What is the state certification examination in Polish as a foreign language?
The state certification examination in Polish as a foreign language is an official examination confirming proficiency in Polish as a foreign language. The examination is organised under the supervision of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language, and passing it enables candidates to obtain a language certificate recognised by many institutions in Poland and abroad.
The examination assesses the level of Polish language proficiency according to the levels defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.
The certificate confirms practical language skills in understanding and producing spoken and written communication in Polish and serves as an official confirmation of the candidate’s level of language proficiency.
The rules for conducting certification examinations, procedures related to issuing certificates, and examination requirements for individual levels are defined by the relevant legal acts:
-
The Act on the Polish Language of 12 June 2015;
-
The Regulation on the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language of 11 December 2015;
